Police from the Government Railway Police recovered a passenger’s lost trolley bag containing gold jewellery and other valuables from Bolpur Railway Station and returned it to its rightful owner after verification. The recovery was made by personnel of the Bolpur outpost under Sainthia GRP Police Station, which falls under the Howrah GRP district.
According to police officials, the unattended trolley bag was found on Platform No. 2 of the station on Thursday during routine duty checks. After discovering the bag, officers initiated an inquiry to identify the owner and began tracing details related to the belongings.
During the investigation, police identified the owner as Moumita Choudhury, a resident of Pune. She had boarded the down NJP Vande Bharat Express on Thursday when the bag was left behind. Police later contacted her and informed her about the recovery.
After completing necessary verification procedures, the bag was handed over to her on Friday. The trolley bag contained two gold chains weighing about 30 grams, a gold pendant, a pair of gold earrings, and 12–14 sarees along with other personal belongings. Choudhury expressed gratitude to the police for their prompt action in recovering and returning the items.
